Rain delays are always one of my favorite times to photograph. Everyone pretty much stays in their uniform which makes photos more historical. In this photo Eric Karros waits for Mark Grudzielanek to move while Rick Down plays an unrecognizable opponent as Orel Hershiser looks on. This was taken in the really cramped laundry room in the visiting clubhouse at Wrigley Field. The stadium itself is always one of my favorites to shoot at. Cubs Team photographer Steve Green is always a hospitable host. © Jon SooHoo/Los Angeles Dodgers
PS–EK told me he only lost to Mike Kinkade. “Everyone else I wore out….!” Karros said
Terry Johnson, Randy Franz, Ken Daley, Steve Dilbeck, Mary Ann Hudson, Brad Turner, Gordie Verrell, Lew Price and former Dodgers PR David Tuttle in the Press Box at Holman Stadium in Vero Beach, Florida. On the board behind the writers the Dodgers were taking on the Orioles. Some of the Orioles starting were Mark McLemore, Mike Devereaux, Cal Ripken from what I can see. Starting this day for the Dodgers was Brett Butler, Raul Mondesi, Mike Piazza, Darryl Strawberry, Eric Karros, Tim Wallach, Jeff Treadway, Raphael Bournigal and Greg Hansell. © Jon SooHoo/Los Angeles Dodgers
In this photograph from March of 1993 from left to right–Rene Cardenas, Jaime Jarrin, Mike Noto, Bob Wahl, Don Drysdale and Ross Porter. Making the long drives to away games, you could find these men in their respective booths broadcasting over the radio. I am not sure which stadium this is but I have no doubt Mike Noto will be able to tell me. © Jon SooHoo/Los Angeles Dodgers
How about this group photo from the late 1980′s from Dodgertown in Vero Beach, Florida? Top row (L to R)—Clem Labine, Preacher Roe, Spike Lee, Ron Perranoski, Ralph Branca, Duke Snider and Carl Erskine. Bottom row (L to R)–Don Zimmer, Bill Russell, Rick Monday, Jeff Torborg, Reggie Smith. Fantasy Camp was an awesome experience and these former Dodger greats were a pleasure to be around. © Jon SooHoo/Los Angeles Dodgers
In what is actually one of my favorite Dodger photos, Mike Scioscia has a light moment with Hall of Fame catcher Roy Campanella during team workout at Dodgertown in Vero Beach,Florida. Roy and his wife Roxie would visit every Spring. While Roy was talking to catchers, Roxie would be playing cards (P nuckle) with other staff members (including me) with her famous East Coast Rules vs West Coast Rules, while enjoying the full Spring Training experience that once was Dodgertown. © Jon SooHoo/Los Angeles Dodgers
In my attempt to replicate the 1948 Life Magazine cover of the Brooklyn Dodgers by George Silk, I took this in 1995. In it you can see coaches and managers of current teams throughout baseball including Mike Scioscia and Ron Roenicke. Look in the upper left hand corner and you can see Hideo Nomo in his first Spring Training with the Dodgers. So many good people are in baseball and some of the nicest are in this photo.
I used my then recently purchased Pentax 6×7 and a normal lens on Fujichrome 100.
