2/10/12-Something Historical-Indy 500 Champion Helio Castroneves visits Andy Ashby in the clubhouse–August 2001
Helio Castroneves shows off his ring for winning the Indy 500 back in 2001 to pitcher Andy Ashby. Cross promotions with other sports teams and venues are always fun since athletes sometimes get to experience something different. Since I shoot for the California Speedway (now Auto Club Speedway) and through then Speedway PR boss Dennis Bickmeier, I was able to arrange our pitcher Andy Ashby a chance to ride around the California Speedway in an open wheel two seater to experience the speed that Castroneves experiences every race.
